Profhilo
Chronological ageing of the face occurs due to changes in the skin, underlying fat, muscle and bone. How is it administered?
Typically, 2ml of Profhilo are injected into the face, distributed between 10 injection points. These injections are intradermal (ie, placed within the dermis of the skin).
How does Profhilo work?
Like dermal fillers, Profhilo is an injectable hyaluronic acid treatment. However, where dermal fillers work by directly volumising the face, Profhilo activates pathways in the skin that increase collagen and elastin production, both key components of healthy skin. In its function as a “skin booster”, therefore, Profhilo helps restore moisture, improves elasticity and firmness, and gives the skin a radiant quality.
How long does Profhilo take to work?
Profhilo needs time to spread and stimulate collagen and elastin production, so although some people see benefit from Profhilo immediately after the first treatment, the best results are visible about 4 weeks after the second treatment. Usually, two treatments are recommended, carried out 4 weeks apart.
How long does it last?
The effects of Profhilo last about 6 months with maintenance sessions are carried out approximately 6 months apart.
What are the side-effects?
There are minimal side effects with Profhilo. Bruising is possible but the procedure is well-tolerated by most. There are initial bumps where the product is injected which settle quite quickly.
